What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a way to straighten teeth without braces, using their innovated aligners. Aligners are removable and virtually invisible. You can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing, and you can still eat and drink what you want. Unlike metal brackets, you can brush and floss your teeth normally with Invisalign, and there is no fear of metal or wire causing uncomfortable abrasions.

The clear aligners are made of a flexible plastic — specifically, a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack® that was created exclusively for Invisalign treatment. They are FDA-approved and contain no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten.

How does Invisalign® work?

The aligners are manufactured so that your teeth will move in small increments. When you put in a new aligner, your tooth mold is slightly straighter than your teeth currently are. This puts pressure on your teeth, and over the course of a week, your teeth will move to match the aligner.

As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will continue to move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to their final positions. You’ll need to visit us about once every 6-10 weeks to ensure your treatment is progressing as planned.

Three steps forward. No steps back.

  • Once your Invisalign Provider has confirmed that you are eligible for treatment, they will take photos, X-rays and digital scans, or a dental impression, of your teeth. These records will be used to create a ClinCheck 3D treatment plan, just for you.
  • After being custom-made and shipped to your Provider’s office, you’ll receive a series of aligners to wear every day and change at home - on average every 1-2 weeks.
  • You’ll visit your Provider around every 10-12 weeks to monitor progress and receive new aligners.
In the meantime, we keep track of your progress with Invisalign Virtual Care.
After finishing your treatment plan, retainers will be required to maintain your new smile.
What are the main advantages of Invisalign® over Standard Braces?

The aligners are manufactured so that teeth will typically move in small increments, so when you put a new aligner in, the teeth in the tray itself are slightly straighter than your teeth are. This puts pressure on your teeth, so that over the course of the week, your teeth will move to match the aligner.

As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will continue to move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to their final positions. You’ll need to visit us about once every 6-10 weeks to ensure your treatment is progressing as planned.

Invisalign Looks Better

The biggest benefit of Invisalign is that the aligners are virtually invisible. Adult patients love that colleagues and clients can’t see they are undergoing orthodontic treatment. Self-conscious teens do too.

You Can Take the Aligners Out to Eat

For best results Invisalign needs to be worn for 20 - 22 hours each day, which means you can take your aligners out when you are eating. This means you don’t have to change what you eat or how you eat it. With braces people find some types of foods difficult or uncomfortable to eat.

It’s Easier to Brush and Floss Your Teeth

As well as when eating and drinking, you’ll also remove your Invisalign retainers to brush your teeth. With nothing on your teeth to worry about, you can continue brushing and flossing as you did previously.

Fewer Consultations Required

With Invisalign, much of the orthodontist’s work happens before you wear your aligners.. There is no need to visit the orthodontics for adjustments so visits are kept to a minimum to check on progress. Few visits to the orthodontist means less time off work.

Comfortable to Wear

Moving teeth around with Invisalign is less uncomfortable than  traditional braces. Invisalign aligners are made of a special plastic and fitted to each patient's mouth, so - unlike braces - there are typically no cuts on the inside cheeks or salt washes to deal with.

Cost

We are often asked “is it cheaper to get braces instead of Invisalign? Due to advances in the 3D scanning technology and the flexible material involved in making the aligners, the cost of Invisalign can be similar to braces.
